The Trust Bank (TTB) has been adjudged Ghana's bank of the year 2007 and also prized as the best in the delivery of corporate banking services.

TTB received the prestigious accolade at the 7th edition of the Ghana Banking Awards on Saturday night.

Closely following TTB was the Cal Bank which clinched 4 out of the 16 awards up for grabs.

It obtained the Best in IT and Electronic banking, long term loan financing and product innovation awards.

The Ghana Commercial Bank was adjudged best in financial performance, most socially responsible, and best in trade financing.

Ecobank received awards in best in advisory services and corporate banking.

Speaking to Joy News shortly after receiving the prestigious award, the Managing Director of TTB Isaac Owusu-Hemeng said the award came as a surprise.

He, however, believes the unshaken desire to attain excellence in customer service won for them the prize.

Mr. Owusu-Hemeng said he had always remained optimistic that the efforts of the bank will be recognised by its customers.

Dr. Paul Acquah also received special citation for innovative financial regulations introduced into the system during his reign as governor of the Central Bank.

The Executive Secretary of Corporate Initiative, Ghana, Afeto Adeitefio said the awards inject improvement into the delivery of banking service through competition.

“On the whole we are convinced that banks in Ghana are doing better”, he stated.
