SIC presents a cheque to UEW

Professor Jophus Anamuah-Mensah, Vice-Chancellor of University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has appealed to financial institutions and organisations to assist in the development of education in the country.

He said such assistance would develop and improve infrastructure in to admit more students to educational institutions to train the required manpower needs of the country. Professor Anamuah-Mensah made the appeal when receiving a cheque for 100 million cedis from the Management of State Insurance Corporation (SIC) at Winneba.

The two institutions are jointly constructing eight bungalows for lecturers of the university at an estimated cost of 920 million cedis out of which the company is contributing 500 million cedis. Professor Anamuah-Mensah noted that Ghana could not develop without quality education to ensure quality human resource base for accelerated development.

He expressed appreciation to the management of Sic for the gesture and called on authorities of tertiary institutions to collaborate with corporate institutions to improve their infrastructure. Mr Asafo Agyei, Deputy Director of Finance and Administration of SIC presenting the cheque said as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Ghana's independence, management had decided to assist public universities in the country.
