NUGS elects new executives

Mr. T. K. Bombason of the Navrongo Campus of the University of Development Studies was on Sunday elected as the new President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) at the end of their 41st Annual Delegates Congress at Winneba.

He polled 156 of the 381 votes to beat eight other contenders for the post.

Ms Alice Gyesi-Mensah of the University of Ghana (UG) was elected General Secretary with 119 votes while Mr. Vitus Kangwongwo also of UG polled 132 votes to become the Co-ordinating Secretary.

Mr. David Damoah of the Ghana Institute of Journalism was voted as the Press and Information Officer.

In all 10 executives were elected.

In an interview after the election, Mr. Bombason said the new executives would re-position the NGUS in a very good stand to enable it to meet the current challenges facing education in the country.

He called on members to bury their differences and come together as one body to move the Union forward.

The new President appealed to the losing contestants to co-operate with the executive by bringing on board their rich experience to help build a formidable union to promote education in the country.
