| Work hard to ensure successful rollout of New Education Reform: Anamuah-Mensah |

Professor Jophus Anamuah-Mensah, the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, has urged Ghanaians to work hard to ensure the successful implementation of the New Education Reform.
He said second cycle education was critical to the developmental and progress of the country since it provided the foundation for turning out of knowledgeable and well-trained personnel required for economic growth.
Prof. Anamuah-Mensah was speaking at the first Speech and Prize Giving Day and 17th Anniversary celebration of Ngleshie Amanfrom Senior High School in Kasoa District of the Central Region on Saturday.
He said “The reform should not be perceived as a window-dressing activity. It is a serious business that calls for commitment by all the stakeholders including community members.”
Prof Anamuah-Mensah said, “The development of knowledgeable and well-trained professionals that can drive the country’s economy forward will depend not only on the well-endowed, urban-based senior high schools but the community schools as well.”
He asked government to ensure the effective monitoring and supervising of teaching and learning through the Inspectorate Division of the Ghana Education Service.
Mrs. Elizebeth Adjei, Headmistress of the school, said the educational institution has lost a considerable portion of land released to it by the chiefs of Ngleshie Amanfro to trespassers.
She said, “I plead with all here present, to aid the school to build a fence wall, not only to protect the rest of the land, but also to curb lateness, truancy and indeed to keep trespassers away.”
Mrs Adjei appealed to individuals, organisations and government to assist the school build more classroom blocks, assembly hall, science laboratory with equipments, acquire a school bus and building to accommodate the teachers and students.
Ngleshie Amanfro Senior High School was established in February 1991 by government as a community-based institution to cater for the needs of Junior secondary school graduates in and around the area.
It started with one tutor and nine students but presently has 38 tutors and 791 students.
