About 300 female students of Krachi Senior High School (SHS) have been displaced as fire engulfed the School's girl's dormitory early Thursday morning.

Personal belongings of the students including mattresses, cloths and beds among others were burnt into ashes.

There was no casualty but the roof, windows and doors of the building were all up in flames.

Mr Ababio Fordjour, Headmaster, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency in a telephone interview, said the cause of the fire was yet to be known.

He said the displaced students were putting up with friends and relations in town and called on the District Assembly and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to help the School resolve the situation.

Mr Fordjour appealed to NADMO to supply the School with some mattresses and blankets, while the School get some temporary accommodation for the students to manage.

Krachi SHS is one of the newly upgraded model schools but it lacked basic amenities including toilets compelling both female and male students to attend to nature's call in the bush.
