Mr Mawutor Goh, Ho Municipal Chief Executive on Tuesday appealed to Ghana Education Service (GES) and management of West African Examination Council (WAEC) to negotiate for a review of allowance for Invigilators and Supervisors of examinations in the country.
He made the appeal when accompanied by Mr Leonard Kokoroko, Presiding Member of Ho Municipal Assembly, toured examinations centres in Ho on the second day of the nation-wide Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Mr Goh said "negotiations for a review of the allowance by GES and WAEC to address concerns of invigilators and supervisors most of them teachers would make the conduct of examinations healthy". He observed that two absentees including a pregnant candidate was an improvement over last year.
Ms Esther Akwensivie, an invigilator at OLA Senior High School Centre complained that it took the management of WAEC about a year to pay their allowance.
Mr Peter Labada, Supervisor at the centre said conveying examination papers from WAEC office only when it was about to be written, instead of collecting all examination papers for the day in bulk was cumbersome.
About 1,645 students from 37 schools within Ho and its environs are writing the examination in the five centres.
