| The study of Religious and Moral Education reintroduced |

The Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, has re-introduced the teaching and learning of Religious and Moral Education as a subject in schools.
This was contained in a circular signed by Mr. Samuel Bannerman-Mensah, Director General of Ghana Education Service (GES), and dispatched to all regional, metropolitan, municipal and district directors of education, the GES Council, the Chief Director of the Ministry and General Managers of Educational Units.
The statement directed that "schools should revert to the teaching of the subject using the syllabus and textbooks that were in existence before the commencement of the Education Reform last September".
The circular said the two periods on the proposed timetable should be utilized for the teaching of the subject until further notice and asked directors of education to monitor compliance of the directives.
It would be recalled that, the teaching and learning of religious and moral education was expunged from the school timetable as a subject standing on its own and rather incorporated in other subjects when the New Education Reform was introduced last September.
There were calls by individuals and groups, especially religious bodies for the reintroduction of the subject in the school curriculum.
Consequently, President John Agyekum Kufuor, directed the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, to reintroduce the teaching and learning of the subject.
