Professor Dominic Fobih, Minister of Education, Science and Sports, has urged authorities of the University of Education, Winneba to institute a monitoring team for the performance of its products especially in the technical and vocational schools.

He said such a team must put in place a mechanism to monitor the performance of products of the University, which plays a vital role to human resource development in the country.

Professor Fobih said this on Monday when he received a delegation from the University led by the Registrar, Mr Charles Akwaa-Mensah in Accra to introduce Professor Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw, the second Vice Chancellor of the University.

Prof Fobih said Government relies on the University for the training of quality teachers especially at the vocational and technical schools.

Prof. Asabere-Ameyaw succeeded Prof. Jophus Anamuah-Mensah on October 1, 2007 and was inducted into office ten days after.

The Minister said government would continue to offer its support to institutions of higher learning, which provided the country's human resource base for national development.

He called on the University authorities to stay focused on their planned programmes and urged them to device new strategies, which to improve the quality of teacher training to enable it meet the demand of the new education reforms.
