The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana Professor Clifford Nii Boye Tagoe on Friday, urged the retired workers of the University of Ghana Legon, to protect and project the good name of the institution at all times.
Prof. Tagoe expressed the belief that, the retired workers of the University of Ghana have a crucial role to play towards the development of the University and therefore urged the retirees to be encouraged to assist with their depth of experiences acquired in the past, while working with the University.
The Vice-Chancellor was addressing 98 retired workers of the University of Ghana at the Great Hall during a send off party organized their honour. workers.
The retired workers were drawn from the entire University, including the Medical School, University of Ghana Business School, the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, Accra City Campus and the University.
In a message to the retirees, the Chairman of the University Council, Mr. Tony Oteng Gyasi appealed to the management of the University of Ghana to institute a seminar for workers of the to educate them on how to manage their lives during retirement.
He added that, this would equip its present workers with the requisite skills needed to properly plan for their retirement in future.
The retirees comprised 25 senior members, 41 senior staff and 22 Junior staff who have worked between 6 and 42 years.
They were given prizes ranging from radio sets to double decker refrigerators.
Certificates of Appreciation and unspecified amount were also presented to each retired worker.
