Mr. Simons Addai, the Member of Parliament for Techiman South, has appealed to media practitioners to adhere to the ethics of the profession. He urged the electronic media to draw up programmes that would unite the people.

Mr. Addai said this at the 10th anniversary celebration of 'ASTA FM', a local radio station in Techiman.

"As media practitioners your actions and inactions can destroy people and affect national stability."

He appealed to the media to eschew the pursuit of personal interests and to focus on issues that would facilitate development. Mr. John Owusu Asante, the General Manager of ASTA FM, said the station was established in 1996 as a community radio to help enhance the socio-economic development of Techiman municipality and the country at large.

He appealed to residents of the municipality to exhibit a high sense of civility and oneness, particularly during phone-in programmes, to sustain the prevailing peace and understanding among the people.
