The "Stars of the Future" searchlight falls on the Greater Accra Region this weekend. At the Erata Hotel tomorrow, Friday April 6 and on Saturday, the 7th, ‘wannabe’ singers, comedians and dancers will have the opportunity to take a bite of stardom.

Then on Friday April 13, final selections will be made to determine which of the auditioned candidates make it to the final stage. Then the reality show on TV begins.

Whoever emerges winner of the music category will take home a brand new salon car, a recording contract among other prizes.

Winners of the comedy and the dance category of the search will take home 20 million cedis cash and performance contracts respectively.

Stars of the Future was initiated last year by Charterhouse to search and produce young and budding entertainers “brewed” in Ghana. The search is sponsored by Areeba, Castle Milk Stout, LG and Close-up.

Talents in Takoradi, Cape Coast and Kumasi have already had their turns. In Kumasi last weekend, organisers of the competition were swarmed by hundreds of young "wannabe stars" at the Miklin Hotel where the search train made a stop.

Eighteen out of the hundreds who were auditioned for the music category of the competition made it to the semi-final stage while 14 were short listed for the dance category. And for the comedy category, six, including a young lady qualified for the semi-final stage.
