Koofori has stated that he is not a drunkard, as people may believe and says he acts as such on TV and radio in order to send a message to his audience.

K.K as he’s fondly known, has put a stop to drinking although he remains the most popular actor, whose personality is strongly associated with that of a staggering drunkard.

“Before God and man, I’ll never sit here and lie.

Not that I’ve never tasted alcohol before, I have. But for some years now it’s been no to alcohol, my wife will be a witness and I have a few friends who know this,” says Koofori.

This may be a hard-to-believe fact about a personage who’s known in the arts for his drunkenness. Koofori stars in the longest-running local comedy-drama on TV, ‘Efiewura’ and also hosts ‘Good Morning Mr. President’, a popular segment on Radio Gold’s morning show.

He is happily married to Nana Aba Enchil who’s now known as Nana Aba Karikari.

Koofori started out on Radio Gold’s groundbreaking drama program ‘Ahenfie’ where he played the role of a drunken linguist in a chief’s palace by default.

He told showghana.com that his radio boss, Kwesi Baffoe Bonne, gave him the name Koofori. He was later offered the opportunity of starring in Efiewura when its executive producer, Mark Okraku Mantey approached him.

“It was a program I attended in Kumasi. I was supposed to go to London for a show so I changed about 700 pounds, 150 euros and 300 dollars, which were in my wallet.

I was MCing the entertainment section of a march between Kotoko and Hearts.

When I got to the stadium I had a lot of people hailing me and all of a sudden I saw people raising me up.

When Koofori was brought down, the wallet, the money, everything vanished,” Koofori recounts the big lesson he’s learnt in show business. It’s certainly a lesson for all and sundry.
