PERHAPS ON Stars of the Future, it is no news that one of the contestants, Twum Barima, enjoys the most cheer anytime he sets on stage.
Perhaps what probably makes news is the fact that regardless of this, he has never topped the SMS voting Charts as weekly depicted in a sister entertainment newspaper.
Each week, Twum Barima appears to increase his scope of fans and this is evidenced in the Reality Series that airs on GTV and Metro TV, several times in a week.
Each time he sets on stage, the cheer gets so loud that sometimes one does not even get to hear what he sings. Yet, the chap never tops the charts.
It appears the one who tops the chart in the competition quite often is pretty looking Clare Asigri. It however came as no surprise last week, when all the three highest voters of the competition mentioned that they had been voting for Clare.
This perhaps leaves one wondering what exactly it was that makes fans go gaga over Twum...And the answer is probably his showmanship!
In the competition’s first ever African Night, held at the main auditorium of the National Theatre, Twum Barima, once again attracted thunderous cheers from the large audience who occupied every single seat of the auditorium.
Right from the moment he was introduced to be the next performer, to the very last note he sang of Rex Omar’s Didi Dada, the cheer from his numerous fans run through.
The same can be said of Fredrica, Noble, Sandra and Betty. The four on the Ghanaian Night were at their best; they excited the audience and received thunderous applauds.
For Clare, Justice and Daniel, the night was not in their favour. But perhaps Clare could be spared; a little chit chat with her friends indicated that even though she did Kojo Antwi’s Men Daada Me, she is not very fluent in Twi and that probably was the cause of her problem with the Twi diction as complained by the judges.
Whiles fans are advised to vote for their favorite contestants on Areeba short code 1342, it is worth noting that the various series of the competition airs on GTV at 3:30pm on Sundays, 9:30am on Tuesdays (repeat), Wednesdays - 8:30pm and Fridays, 8:30pm.
Then again on Metro TV, Stars of the Future airs at 7pm on Saturdays and a repeat on Mondays at 9am. Stars of the Future is another exclusive concept by Charterhouse and sponsored by Areeba, GTV, Close – up, Castle Milk Stout, National Theatre and Universal Motors.
