Grace Omaboe’s talent and skills on her job is splendid.Grace Omaboe, best known as Maame Dokono is a household name and though sounds comical, her business acumen and exploits as well as the demand and the requirement of her numerous clients have made her a shining example of an enterprising woman in women leadership.
This leadership has been translated into proactively growing perfection, branching into various pursuits of artistic disciplines.
Grace has not allowed her roles as a film actress, social worker and other pursuits to prevent her from getting involved in other areas such as talk shows, social commentary on TV& radio.
As a mother and exponent of our local show biz phenomenon talk show, her professional life as self motivated expert whose mission is to motivate others to help them live a life full of happy and consistent assurances, has proved worthwhile.
Apparently gifted with powers of persuasion, she is able to move people who are bashful to answer questions put to them in her show.
Undisputedly, Grace Omaboe has the likes of Oprah Winfrey and this has made her Ghana’s premier confessional talk show queen.
In her talk show programme, ‘Odo ne Asomdwee’ literally meaning love and peace in Akan on Metro TV, marriage issues, matters of human rights like rape, or indecent sexual assault, child maltreatment have been addressed.
Grace, like Oprah, has in her marvelous job cultivated and characterised the socio-cultural life of Ghanaians most of whom successful and meaningful lives have been hoisted on truth and morality.
Her style, critics say has remained a harmless toil as it researches and searches for answers to people’s personal problems.
That is why on Asempa Radio from 12 noon to 2.30pm, her talkshow on social issues code named ‘Abrabo’ on Tuesdays particularly related to women issues is very interesting.
On Wednesdays, it is generally for both sexes, dealing with general issues code named ‘Bue Wanokasa’ meaning open your mouth and feel free to talk,. then on Thursdays, her pro-gramme ‘Oman Papa’ is centred on issues that would move our country forward.
Charting a course such as this, the issue of goodness obtained in such truths when spoken marks a total victory over obstinate society, making people ultimately the beneficiaries.
Grace has spectacularly shown brilliance and has gone far beyond showbiz, film acting and other TV series and entertainment with particular reference to children’s educative programmes. Last year, Grace together with a Ghanaian leg amputee was on Oprah’s show in the US.
On a comparative note with Oprah Winfrey, Grace Omaboe goes out to impact upon the general public with what can be described as contribution to national and social service.
Oprah Winfrey who also doubles as a film star has been nurturing a film titled ‘Beloved’ for 11 years, in which she has invested time and money to produce and feature in it.
In fact, just as Grace tries to exert her influence on the political landscape, Oprah’s influence is said to have reached out so prominently that United States National Child Protection Law known as Oprah Law has lifted her image on the American Social Scene.
Many believe talk shows in Ghana will assume a bigger role in helping to shape our political destiny.
By this, it is believed that concerns of the society regardless of political affiliations should be addressed to arrest the social canker of our time.
