The Management of Love Sisters Partners, an entertainment spot on Spintex Road, behind the Community 18 Police Station in Accra has held a luncheon for older people and the youth at Lashibi in Accra, as part of activities marking the Republic Day celebration and Senior Citizens’ day.
The beneficiaries from Help Age Ghana, who were feted free food and drinks, were drawn from Madina, Apenkwa, Teshie, Mamobi, La, Bubiashie, Laterbiokorshie, Mataheko and Osu.
The programme of activities included eating and dancing competitions after which the winners were presented with very attractive prizes.
Speaking at the function, the founder of "Odo So" Salvation Camp at Lashibi Paapa Paul, urged Ghanaians to appreciate the role of the elderly in society and accord them the honour, and dignity they deserved.
He noted that the nation’s senior citizens sacrificed their talents, skills and comfort to ensure the freedom the country is currently enjoying.
Paapa Paul, who is also the Managing Director of Love Sisters Partners, regretted that most senior citizens in spite of their immense contributions towards nation building, are not living comfortable lives as they should be.
He urged religious bodies to assist in providing for the needs of the elderly in society.
The Warden of Osu Day Centre, Madam Rose Sakah and Mrs Beatrice Woode, co-ordinator of Mataheko Centre of Hope, commended the management of Love Sisters Partners for the gesture.
