Ghana, the Gateway to Africa, has recorded great
advancements in all aspects of the economy and these include the fashion, textile, modeling and entertainment industries.

While the Golden Independence of this Golden Nation has been celebrated in various ways, the Gold show is a perpetuation of this celebration which came to you as a fusion of fashion and music defined.

The Gold show brought to light some of the best and the biggest collaborations of Africa today in the fashion industry.

All the same, this star-studded event, which took place on Sunday, the 1st of July (republic day) at the Independence Square (gold city) lived up to part of its expectation, receiving mixed reviews from all those who attended.

The feeling I got from the crowd was that even though the organizers did a wonderful job and all the invited guest had a great time, it kept getting a bit boring during some parts of the show; some complained that the venue was too big and the crowd small, while others seemed to be sleeping unless an artist was performing.

All the same it was a great show and a night to remember as the evening peeped into the window of the AU summit, where we had over 53 Heads of State and their first ladies in the country, and some were at the show, including His Excellency the President of our great Nation Ghana.

Adequately you can say the Gold show was also the official entertainment for the African Summit.
It is good to see Ghana making a positive move in the fashion industry.

The show featured over 45 elegant international and national models parading the runway in the immaculate collections of about 15 international designers, all of African origin, including our very own Kofi Ansah, Karim Issaka (CEO of Rim Artex) and Joyce Ababio of Vogue Style plus the likes of Eamond Ayanick (Togo), Fagueye Ba (Senegal), Jones Adebayo (Nigeria) and Gilles Toure (Cote D’Ivoire) among others.

There was more than enough eye candy to make everyone happy.
The Gold show was hosted by the prestigious KKD (The Finest) and Anita (Metro TV) and featured a series of boredom-killing performances from the likes of Gyedu Blay Ambulley and Freddie Meiway who rocked the crowd throughout his performance, as well as the musical maestro Kojo Antwi.

The Gold Show featured other exhilarating performances such as a gospel explosion at the beginning of the show, a choreographed dance performance by the Australian Aborigine Group who displayed dances like the “ocarangee (kangaroo), mira garangee (ungreedy bird) and the minawana, meaning farewell”, plus fireworks to climax the show.

This was a celebration of a show that has come to stay and will be known as an “annual event”.

Therefore, just bout the summer of every year Gold Show would be pulled off and promises to be a window to other fashion exploits in Ghana with the collaboration of sister African countries.

Make sure you catch next week’s article for the latest happenings in and around town and the coolest places to be. Stay blessed and peace out.
