The wait is over, the doors are locked and the cameras are rolling! The 12 Big Brother Africa (BBA) contestants began their 98 day stay in the BBA house at 21:00 CAT on Sunday,August 5 and it promises to be an action packed adventure!
Watched by DStv audiences across the continent on M-Net and AfricaMagic, the reality series is set to keep audiences entertained as the search for a USDIOO 000 winner begins!
The show definitely isn't short of strong personalities and the fireworks inside the walls of the house will surely outshine the pyrotechnics which greeted each contestant.
Host Kabelo Ngakane greeted each contestant on the red carpet as they arrived by luxury vehicles, offering them the chance to say one last an goodbye to their loved ones before venturing beyond the famous BBA door and into the glare of 24-hour camera coverage.
Ghana's Kwaku - draped b in a red jacket, orange shirt and green tie arrived first, with promises of showing his feminine side to loyal BBA viewers.
Three more men followed him in Malawi's shower hour fan Code, Tan¬zanian film student Richard and Kenyan novelist Jeff.
The four guys must have been worried about the lack of female company in the house and Big Brother duly obliged by introducing them to slinky Angolan model Tatiana.
"There are only boys here I think I'm in the wrong house!" she exclaimed after wandering through the garden and into the lounge.
The boys didn't seem to mind, though! "A new world record!" ex¬claimed host Kabelo, outside on the red carpet. "30 seconds in the house, and already boyfriend - forgotten!"
Gender parity was restored as tough cookie Namibian Meryl, Nigerian dance fanatic Ofunneka and straight-shooting Ugandan Maureen were ushered down the red carpet and through the famous Big Brother Africa door.
Justice from Botswana joined the excited group in the garden next, followed by South African social butterfly Lerato and smooth-talking Zambian Maxwell.
The contestants had a few minutes to explore their home for the next three months before Zimbabwean lawyer Bertha arrived fashionably late by helicopter no less!
With all the contestants safely inside, Big Brother locked the front door and the fun began - everyone reintroduced themselves before getting down to some serious relaxing.
The wine flowed, the cameras rolled and the eyeballing began in earnest.
The twelve contestants will spend some time trying to figure each other out before Big Brother starts dishing out challenges.
