Owing to his success in the Ghana music industry, Nana Gyedu Blay Ambolley has been invited by the Digital Media Liberia Enterprise as a special guest to a two-day inauguration ceremony to open a new recording studio for musicians in Liberia.
Ambolley left Ghana yesterday for Liberia to attend the ceremony, scheduled to take-off yesterday and end today Saturday, August 25.
Ambolley told Beatwaves in a telephone conversation last Wednesday that he would address Liberian musicians at a workshop on music as part of the activity.
He would be highlighting on important and diverse topics including the rudiments and technicalities in music.
According to him, there would be other activities, which he said he would brief Beatwaves on upon his return.
The musician, who released his 21st album - “The next generation” - three months ago, is expected to use the platform to give his Liberian fans a taste of good performances.
Recently he called for a probe in the music industry and as well announced his intention to contest the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) presidency in the union’s upcoming elections, slated for November 14 at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region.
Ambolley’s name however came up as one of those “who were not qualified” to contest the election.
But once a Vice President of the union in 1979, with his membership card, Ambolley said Article 14 of the MUSIGA constitution which says “All National and Regional Executive Members who serve the union more than four years in office shall be eligible for life membership” automatically made him a life member.
He added he was therefore eligible to contest.
