GHANAIAN CELEBRITIES including Kojo Antwi, Kwesi Kyei Darkwa (KKD), Kweku Sintim Misa (KSM), David Dontoh, Prof. Azumah Nelson, Abedi Ayew Pele and many others have donated to flood victims in the north.

Through the initiative of Musicman Kojo Antwi, the stars teamed up to form a non-governmental organization (NGO), Concerned Artistes For Disaster Relief (C.A.D.R.E) to conduct a televised telethon dubbed “REACHOUT GHANA.”

The event, which is in aid of flood victims in the north is meant to encourage Ghanaians to make substantial contributions. It would also help create awareness about the real situation in the north.

The two-day programme would be aired on GTV Friday October 26 and Saturday 27.

Said to contain a variety of sub-programmes, the programme is expected to be run for a minimum of four hours, from 8pm on each day. Included in the show is the auctioning of high quality couture items and other valuable possessions donated by the celebrities.

Stars David Dontoh, Agya Koo and KSM would sit at different corners and appeal to all for support. They would be receiving phone-in donations for an hour and half.

The rest would involve music performances by Batman Samini, and A-plus as well as other influential artistes. An offertory section would be led by Maame Dokono, Akorfa Edjeani-Asiedu and other stars.

Fashion shows, mini-documentaries, footages from hard-hit areas and solidarity messages from concerned citizens, friends and the world at large would also be telecast.

Present would be Members of Parliament and royals from the northern regions.

Last Tuesday, REACHOUT GHANA was launched at a press soirée at Alisa Hotel in Accra, where each of the stars called on corporate entities, benevolent organizations and individuals to support the programme.

They stated that as Ghanaians we should be capable of supporting ourselves rather than waiting for foreigners to come to our aid. They lauded Kojo Antwi for ‘coughing out’ the idea for the programme.

Other celebrities taking part in the initiative are Rex Omar, Amandzeba Nat Brew, Anthony Baffoe and many others.
