Tema municipality inaugurates Ghana@50 committee

Tema Municipal Chief Executive, Mr David Quaye Annang, on Tuesday night called on corporate bodies and individuals resident in the municipality to contribute positively towards the Ghana's Golden Jubilee celebrations to enable the city leave a good legacy for succeeding generations.

He said Tema, which is the industrial hub of the nation and one of the magnificent creations of Ghana's independence, deserved to celebrate with productive events so as to positively impact the youth in future.

The MCE was inaugurating three advisory councils of the 'Ghana@50' for the local level at Tema. They are the fund raising/publicity, infrastructure/entertainment and the mobilization advisory councils whose membership comprises chief executive officers and management staff of some establishments in Tema.

Mr Annang said the task was sacrificial and entreated the members to put their expertise at play to enable the city showcase itself as a leader in developments after independence. He charged the councils to mobilize resources for specific projects that would be undertaken during the year long celebration and beyond. Mr Eric Benyakoo, a business consultant and chairman of the advisory councils, outlined a programme of activities for the municipality which include clean-up campaigns, construction of a library, beautification of ceremonial roads, parade and thanksgiving service.
