THE Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has presented prizes to 10 winners of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) Car Raffle, from over 3000 entries.

Mr. Ekow Ghanney of Half Price Books Shop located on the Spintex road in Accra, who emerged the ultimate winner with ticket number 002962, was presented with a BMW 5 Series valued at ˘420 million.

The second prize of 29" Flat Screen Television, valued at ˘5.3 million went to Mr. Varsani Sanjay Karsan, with ticket number 002710, while the third to fifth prizes of DVD players, went to Samuel Adodo, Ben Mills and Akin Bello.

The last five winners, Ajayi Olatunde Nathaniel, Bruce Wright, Nwamene Charles, Naas Van Zyl and Konadu E, each received a camera mobile phone.

Willie Orhin, Deputy Director-General (Finance and Administration) of the GCAA, who presented the awards said it was in recognition and appreciation of the facilities at the airport.

He noted that the decoupling of the GCAA from KIA was in line with the best practice and also in compliance with the stipulations of the Ghana Civil Aviation Act 678, 2004.

This is to enable GCAA to focus on air navigational services and safety regulation whereas the newly incorporated Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), is now responsible for the planning, development, management and maintenance of all airports and aerodromes in Ghana, he said.

"This is our way of saying thank you for your support and patronage. We will continue to welcome your criticisms and suggestions. This is the only way we can continue to improve on our facilities and services to you", he said.
