Opening the fair last week, President John Agyekum Kufuor said trade fairs and exhibitions have contributed significantly to increasing Ghana’s domestic trade as well as its share of the global market.

He said “the development and growth of businesses from small to medium scale, the increase in income levels, and the creation of jobs are all positive benefits which the country has derived directly and indirectly from Fairs, that is why government is exploring all avenues to develop the Trade Fair Centre to bring it international standards, as a Centre”. President Kufuor said, over the past five to six years, government had succeeded in laying a solid foundation for development, by implementing policies and programmes that have significantly transformed the economic landscape of the country, and created the necessary enabling environment for the private sector to thrive.

He said a comprehensive infrastructure improvement programme and efforts are still ongoing for further improvement to enhance the mobility of goods and persons to promote business development in general. He encouraged all businesses participating in the fair to take full advantage of the opportunities the jubilee fair has to offer.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Eddie Imbeah Amoako said the trade fair centre has been used as a focal point and a congenial venue for the marketing of Ghana and the promotion of the country`s goods and services and it has also created a platform for businessmen, entrepreneurs, industrialists, investors, and other stake-holders to meet not only to do business but to share ideas.

He said through the hosting of local, regional, sub-regional, international, and foreign country solo fairs, and exhibitions, the centre had contributed immensely towards the socio-economic development of Ghana. Ms Esther D.
