The Akim Oda Magistrate's Court in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region, on Wednesday remanded in police custody, Seth Mantey, a farmer, for defiling his 14-year-old daughter.

The court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor refused the plea of Mantey, 43, and placed him in custody to reappear on September 18.

The prosecution told the court that the victim is a pupil of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) School at Ayirebi near Akim Oda, while the accused, the father, is a farmer and lives in the same house with her.

The Prosecution said on August 2, 2008, at about 2330 hours, the accused sneaked into the room of his daughter and had sex with her. The prosecution stated that the victim sustained bruises in the vagina after the act.

The court was also told that the accused, fearing that his daughter might get pregnant, bought some "abortive drugs" for her, which led her to report the incident to her mother.

The mother subsequently reported the case to the police leading to the arrest of Mantey, popularly referred to as "sexy machine" in the area.
