A UK court has sentenced a 22 year old Ghanaian, David Quartey to life imprisonment for murder.

Quartey after three weeks of trial was found guilty for murdering another Ghanaian, a pediatrician, Dr. Victoria Anyetei, who is also based in London.

The jury on Thursday, delivered their ruling after three days of deliberations.

In August last year, Anyetei was found dead in her car with multiple stab wounds, prompting investigations into the matter.

Relatives of Dr. Anyetei say they are happy with the judgment.

Nephew to the late Dr. Leon Khartey in an interview with Joy News admits the sentence would not bring back his aunty, but justice he says, has been served.

“Dr. Anyetei is a likeable person a devoted Christian and would dearly be missed,” he added.

Leon Khartey says Quartey became a family friend after Dr. Anyetei had treated his (Quartey) sister at the Korle bu Teaching Hospital.

Before her death, Dr. Anyetei was acting as the guardian of David Quartey in London.

Dr. Anyetei left behind a 19 year old son.
