Mr Joseph Boakye Dankwa-Adu, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, on Friday failed to win the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary.
He polled 31 votes as against 35 votes polled by the winner, Professor Samuel Kwadwo Amoako.
Prof. Amoako, lecturer at Laguadia University in the US, is the founder of the Friends of Nana Akufo Addo (FONA) in the constituency and is an active member of the campaign team of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of NPP.
Prof Amoako, who lost to Mr Dankwa-Adu in 2004, invited Mr Dankwa-Adu to join his campaign to ensure that the party wins the constituency and the presidential election.
Earlier, he had promised the delegates that if elected as the MP for the constituency, he would help rehabilitate the Tafo market to rake in more revenue for the area and prepare the ground for the constituency to be turned into a District.
Prof. Amoako also promised to help turn the Bunso Cocoa College and the Tafo Cocoa Research Institute into a University College for Cocoa.
