| Do not measure development only in Fourth Republic |

Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, presidential candidate for the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), on Friday said it would be uneven for any politician to measure the development of the country only under the 1992 Fourth Republican Constitution.
He reminded Ghanaians that real foundation for accelerated industrial and economic take-off of the country was adequately laid by the CPP long before the advent of the 1992 Constitution.
Dr. Nduom said this when he interacted with chiefs and market women at Ve-Deme in the Hohoe District, as part of his two-day visit to the Volta Region.
He had earlier met with traditional authorities, opinion leaders and identifiable organizations at Kadjebi and Jasikan to galvanize support for the CPP in the 2008 Election.
He said reference could only be made to the 1992 constitution in respect with the fact that National Democratic Congress (NDC) completed two terms of office, which could be compared to the administration of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but development wise, the CPP was ahead.
Dr. Nduom said actual development plans of the country were marshalled by the CPP to launch the country into a middle-income status long ago, if successive governments had not abandoned those plans.
He urged Ghanaians to consider the CPP's bid as the only way for rapid socio-economic growth and development since the NDC and the NPP had failed the masses.
Dr. Nduom said a CPP government would reinvigorate the relationship between the party and traditional authorities who are the real custodians of the land and belief systems.
He said the CPP would act independently because all previous alliances with the NDC and the NPP landed on bedrock.
Dr. Nduom said the acceptability of the new CPP by both the elderly and the youth has been overwhelming and expressed the hope that the party would form the next government.
He asked Ghanaians to consider what is in their pockets and vote for the CPP in the December polls.
Togbega Delume VII, Paramount Chief of Ve Traditional Area, commended Dr. Nduom for the visit and entreated politicians to continue to seek the welfare of the masses rather than lining their pockets with public funds.
He urged politicians to prosecute the impending elections on issues to avoid endangering the prevailing peace.
