New Patriotic Party (NPP), prodigal son, John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has said that his return after his recent resignation has boosted the image of the NPP as it has reignited massive support from the electorates.

Speaking in an interview with Ekourba Gyasi on ADOM Dwaso Nsem, since he rejoined the party a few weeks ago, Mr. Kyerematen said he is currently with the NPP flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo on a campaign tour to the Volta Region where they are whipping up support for the party in constituencies they consistently lose to opposition parties.

According to Mr. Alan Kyerematen, who is currently the Special Assistant to the NPP flag bearer, the continuous support the party receives on their tours especially the Volta Region shows the confidence Ghanaians have in the NPP.

When pressed further on the supposed factors that led to his resignation, he added, “I’m very pleased by the determined efforts of the party leadership and grassroots supporters to maintain the unity upon which this party was built and continues to grow from strength to strength.”

“Now let’s get on with it. We have an election to fight and win and that’s where the main focus must remain,” he added.

Alan Kyerematen’s resignation from the NPP - an action which the former Trade Minister said was informed by the harassment of those who supported his presidential candidature bid, raised eyebrows especially after he conceded defeat and pledged support at the Congress that elected Nana Addo.

He placed second in the congress and joined the winner, Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign team until things got sour in his relationship with the party.

The resignation remained for a long time on top of the political chart, receiving copious discussions by both pro-NPP and opposition radio commentators.
