Life for Africa Inc, a non-profit organization, said on Wednesday that it had concrete plans to create a world-class technology park in Ghana to help transform West Africa into a major technology region.

Drolor Bosso Adamtey I, Suapolor, of Se (Shai) Traditional Area and Founder of Life for Africa Inc, told journalists at the opening of a three-day African Technology Conference that the vision to build the park had the backing of three prominent global technological companies.

The conference on the theme: "Africa Now: Building Technology for Future Generations," is the initial step towards the realization of the vision of bringing into fruition the technology park.

"Our motivation is to tap the innovation and creativity of the youth as a catalyst for improving the standard of living and transforming the lives of local, regional and global citizens," he said. He would, however, not disclose where the park is to be sited or when the project will take off.

Drolor Bosso Adamtey I said Africa needed to step up its investment in education and infrastructure if the continent was to bridge the technological gap with the advanced countries. "In fact, education and infrastructure are critical if we want to add value to the present technology and expand our frontiers in economic development," he said.

He called for partnership between the developed economies and Africa to bring to bear the technological advances on the continent's development process since technology was the fuel for driving globalisation and economic prosperity.

The three-day conference brings together corporate executives and African leaders to discuss educational and technology infrastructure, entrepreneurship and business and government policy. It would serve as a platform to explore avenues for successfully enhancing the Ghanaian technology and educational infrastructure and for business development.

It would also brainstorm on options for successfully creating a world-class technology centre in Ghana and how it could be replicated on the continent.
