The Ghana Tourist Board (GTB) says it is really impressed with hotel reservations, ahead of Ghana's 50th anniversary celebration.

The Head of Research of the, GTB, Mr Martin Twum, has explained to Ghananewstoday in an interview, the rationale behind the recent survey by the Board to ascertain if the country has enough hotel facilities to accommodate tourists expected in the country for the golden jubilee celebrations this year.

The findings of the survey indicated that 81 per cent of hotels in the country have already been booked ahead of the celebrations.

According to Mr Martin Twum, the GTB thought it was imperative to conduct this research to ascertain whether the country has the necessary facilities for the celebrations.

Mr Martin Twum also told Ghananewstoday that the Ghana Tourist Board will continue to conduct the research till the end of June this year.

Mr Twum further stated that should the number of visitors exceed their expectations, they have the necessary facilities to accommodate, every visitor during the golden jubilee celebrations.

"It is difficult because we don't know the number of people coming to the country for the celebrations. The demand now is more than the supply, but the necessary preparations will be put in place to cater for that", Mr Martin Twum said.
