The Kotoka International Airport, KIA, Collection of CEPS in 2006 realized ¢632b as against a target of ¢648b revenue for the state. The figure represents 97% of the target.
The KIA Sector Commander of the CEPS, Assistant Commissioner J.K. Ocloo at the end of year get-together of personnel of the Airport branch announced this.
Mr. Ocloo said although the revenue target was not met, total revenue increased by approximately ¢128b.
He said despite the high level of import exemptions, revenue collection performance is commendable.
Mr. Ocloo called on the officers to maintain effective supervision, monitoring and vigilance to ensure that all areas of revenue leakage are blocked.
He said a number of significant interceptions of narcotic drugs, mobile phones, counterfeit of foreign travellers' cheques and money orders were made during the year.
The Commissioner of CEPS, Emmanuel Doku, said that even though the Service made considerable strides last year, there is more to be done.
He assured that management will continue to provide opportunities to develop staff skills and create a professional approach to work.
Seventeen individuals and institutions received awards and citations for exemplary devotion to duty. The overall Best Officer Award went to Assistant Collector Jonathan Debrah, with Matilda Akowua taking the junior division.
