BOLGATANGA CITIZENS MARK ADAKOYA FESTIVAL

The Chiefs and people of the Bolgatanga Traditional Area have celebrated their annual Adakoya festival.

It is a thanksgiving festival celebrated after a successful farming season. In a message the Regional Minister, Boniface Gambilla lauded governments policies and programmes in the educational sector which have given respite to both parents and children at school.

He said education serves as tool for fighting poverty and advised the youth to do away with laziness, and other vices.

Launching the Bolgatanga Girl-Child Education Endowment Fund the Deputy Regional Minister, Alhaji Yiremiah said formal education is no longer the preserve of boys.

He urged chiefs, landlords and opinion leaders to do away with negative customs and practices that impede the development of the girl child.

Alhaji Yiremeah also appealed to the people to make peace and unity their guiding principle.

The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Nsor Amoa said Bolgatanga is undergoing social and structural changes to befit its status as a regional capital.

He called on residents of the municipality to co-operate with the assembly to ensure the success of the ongoing decongestion exercise.

The Bolga Naba, Martin Abilba appeal to opposition MPs to rescind their decision to boycott Parliament. He said their return to the house will allow for effective working of the country's democracy which is the envy of other countries in Sub-Saharan African.
