BEACHES AT NUNGUA are to be upgraded to meet international tourism standards.

Hon Abraham Odai Laryea, Member of Parliament for Krowor, disclosed this at the Golden Jubilee parade at Nungua in Accra on March 6.

According to him, the upgrading project, which would include the construction of modern toilet facilities at the beaches amongst others, would be a classic example for other constituencies along the shores of Accra to follow.

Residents who had grown used to defecating on the beaches, would thus be made to face the full rigours of the law henceforth, the MP indicated.

Three 24-seater toilet facilities would be provided this year under the project.

The road network in some parts of Nungua, particularly the road from Buade to Ravico Hotel, would also be improved, in addition to another at Adogon. This would help ease the traffic congestion in the town.

By the end of this year, the MP said, ¢188 million would be provided from his common fund for the renovation of some educational facilities in Nungua. This would include the St. Peters Anglican Senior Secondary School.

Hon Laryea indicated further that a 172-bed hospital would be built in the town to cater for the health needs of residents.

The MP disclosed he had paid registration fees for some 1,400 residents of the town in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
