District raises contingent for cultural festival

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has ogranised cultural festivals for Basic Schools at six centers to raise a contingent for a District Festival to be held at Breman Kontanase in Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District in the Central Region on June 28th and 29th 2007.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency on Friday, the District Cultural Co-ordinator for the area, Mr. Aloysius K. Dadzie said that activities performed included choral music, poetry recital, drum language, dance drama and sight singing.

Mr. Dadzie who released the results to the GNA said that at Brakwa circuit the Brakwa Catholic JSS got 74 per cent to win the first position in choral music followed by Amanfopon Methodist JSS 60 per cent and Brakwa Islamic placed third with 56 percent. In the poetry recital, Brakwa Catholic got 65 per cent to win the first position followed by Brakwa Islamic with 59 per cent and Kokoso Catholic School third with 58 percent.

For the drum Langnase Kokoso Catholic was placed first with 48 per cent, and followed by Brakwa Methodist with 47 percent. Brakwa Islamic emerged first in the Dance Drama with 73 per cent followed by Kokoso Catholic with 65 per cent. The third position went to Brakwa Methodis with 40 per cent.

The other centers were Breaman Asikuma, Bedum, Anhuiam, Amoanda and Jamra whose results were not all immediately available. At Breman Asikuma Centre, Asikuma Methodist 'B' won 76 per cent to win the first position in the choral music. The rest were Asikuma Catholic second with 67 per cent while Abuakuwa Catholic became third with 66 per cent.

In poetry recital, the first position went to Asikuma catholic with 79 per cent, Baako D/A second with 75 per cent and Colonel Bbaidoo D/A third with 74 per cent.

In drum language, Asikuma Methodist 'A' and Asikuma Presby bracketed with 88 percent each while Abuakuwa Catholic got 84 per cent to be placed third.

For sight singing, Kontanase Catholic was adjudged the best to represent the District.
