Cape Coast gears up for PANAFEST

The Central Regional capital Cape Coast is preparing feverishly towards this year's Pan-African Historical Theatre Festival (PANAFEST).

The Executive Secretary of the PANAFEST Secretariat, Rabbi Kohain Nathanyah Helevi, says plans are far advance to make this year's programme a success, despite the initial problems they encountered.

He stated that this year's programme would be a unique one compare to the previous one's because of the Joseph project introduced by the Ministry of Tourism and Diasporan Relations.

This year's programme starts on July 22 and ends on August 2."We have invited local and international artiste to add flavour to the festival,"he said.The Adisadel College Park would be the festival village for this year's programme.

According to Helevi, the PANAFEST Secretariat is working with the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) so that the load shedding exercise would not affect the programme.

Osabarima Kwesi Attah II Oguamanhene, has called on all the districts Assemblies in the Central region to support this year's programme to make it a success.
The Central and Western Regional director of the Ghana Tourist Board (GTB), Mr.Paul Owusu Nkansah has advised Hotel and Guest House managers and manageress who have not registered to be part of this years festival to do so.

He said, so far his outfit and the Central Regional Development Commission (CEDECOM) have organized workshop for stakeholders in the Hospitality industry as part of preparations towards this years programme.

As part of activities marking the festival, there will be a PANAFEST, Emancipation and Joseph Day walk on July 2,2007 in Cape Coast. Nana Ato Arthur,the Central Regional Minister , Osabarima Kwesi Attah II,Omanhene of Oguaa Traditional Area and Nana Kodwo Condua VI,Omanhene of Edina Traditional Area will be the Special Guests for the occasion.
