The third in the series of events packaged by the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Road Show in connection with the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nation, will take place in Cape Coast, Central Region, as part of the Fetu Afahye Celebration on Saturday 1st September, 2007.
The Road Show, a major part of the many outdoor activities designed by the LOC to publicize the Ghana 2008 Championship, and to generate excitement for the games countrywide has already started with the first two events in Kumasi and Sekondi –Takoradi.
The next event is scheduled for Accra on Saturday, September 8, at the Holy Gardens, Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
In the true spirit of Sharing Passions at the Centre of the Earth with all compatriots, the original trophy of the tournament will be displayed during the Road Show to give supporters who will throne the arena an up-close and personal encounter.
Featuring prominently on the show and thereafter in the other scheduled activities under the Road Show Programme, will be the three-time CAF Footballer-of-the-Year, Maestro Abedi Pele and a member of the Ghana 2008 Business Club, who will lead a team of former national football stars including Nii Odartey Lamptey, Anthony Yeboah, Yaw Preko, Kwame Ayew and Tony Baffoe, to create excitement in the build-up to the Tournament.
Other renowned footballers expected at the Road Show will be Ibrahim Sunday, Abdul Razak, Mohammed Polo among others.
Football lovers and fans of the game will also have the chance to interact with Claude le Roy, Coach of the senior national team the Black Stars; Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio; and Sam Arday who will all be special guests.
Ghana’s current music sensation, Samini, acknowledged as the face of MTN, will add his star power and image to the Programme which will also highlight the Ghana 2008 Business Club and its high profile members.
As part of the Road Show there will be organized floats on wheels through the principal streets of Cape Coast and its environs to end up at the Victoria Park, the venue of the main activity in the evening.
