The Minister of Tourism and Diasporan Relations, Stephen Asamoah-Boateng has charged operators in the hospitality industry to start putting in place adequate measures to ensure efficient service delivery during the CAN 2008 football fiesta in the country.

He said that the event presents a major opportunity for Ghana to market her hospitality industry to the world, adding that "the operators must put in the necessary effort to achieve that goal".

Mr. Asamoah-Boateng, who was opening a training workshop for operators in the hospitality sector in the Greater Accra Region, also asked them to devote more attention to service delivery and client relationship since that was a good platform to attract more clients from around the world.

"There is the need for operators to have good management skills and enhanced relations with workers and clients," he said, citing other countries whose tourism and hospitality industries had developed tremendously through good client service delivery.

Such management skills, he noted, could not be achieved without the necessary training and therefore commended the Ghana Tourist Board for organising the workshop to improve the capacity of the operators.

He reminded the participants, who are mostly owners of hospitality entities of the need to be committed to their investments, since the industry is a job that required professionalism.

"The industry is serious business and operators must be professional so as to earn the desired returns," he stated.
