Travellers urged to patronise the Tamale Airport

Miss Gloria Akuffo, Minister of Aviation has urged the travelling public to patronise flights to and from the Tamale Airport to ensure a faster social and business activities.

She said the major technical and infrastructural developments that were undertaken in preparation towards Ghana 2008 had lifted the standard of the airport to almost international status.

Miss Akuffo was reviewing the facilities put in place at the airport for the Ghana 2008 in Tamale on Monday and also to see the progress of work on other facilities such as the Presidential lounge, the administration and fire service section.

She commended Consar Limited, the contractor working on the facilities, for their good work and noted that work on the presidential lounge had been completed ahead of schedule.

She said President Kufuor had had the opportunity to see the facility when he came to officially open the Tamale Sports Stadium.

"I am quite satisfied with what has been accomplished", Miss Akuffo said.

Mr Julius Akor-Boafo, Acting Manager of the Tamale Airport, who conducted the Minister round, said they were able to handle all the arrivals of the teams, which were hosted in Tamale successfully.
