The Brong-Ahafo Regional branch of Ghana Tourist Board on Friday presented chocolate products for distribution to pupils of Divine Montessori Crèche in Sunyani as part of activities marking the regional celebration of National Chocolate Day.

The board also presented some of the products to workers of Ghana News Agency, Sky FM, Radio BAR, New Times Corporation, Graphic Communications Group and the Regional Coordinating Council.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview Mr. Michael Djam, Senior Quality Assurance Officer of the board, said the motive was to dissuade the minds of especially the youth from sexual promiscuity that often characterized the celebration of St Valentine’s Day and to inculcate in them the attitude of gift-giving.

He said the gesture was also to encourage the consumption of cocoa products because of their health benefits.

Ghana Telecom in Sunyani celebrated the Day with an education programme on the local BAR FM radio station on its products and services.

Mr. Agyeman Prempeh Agyekum, Regional Manager, told the Ghana News Agency the programme, dubbed “Chocolate Day with Telecom,” was aimed at educating the public on the organization’s One Touch and Fixed Network services.

He said the organization would soon be switching to a new system called the Alcatel switch that has a higher capacity.

The Alcatel system would enable customers to enjoy broad band services with an increase in customer base from the current capacity of 5,536 to 20,000.

Mr. Lamisi Atoni Akugiri, Regional Corporate Communications Manager, said during the radio programme callers were allowed to ask questions relating to Ghana Telecom products and services and prizes were presented to winners.

The first prize winner took away a connected mobile phone and a tee shirt, the second winner had a tee shirt, start up pack and a top up credit of GHC 5.

The third prize winner was presented with a tee shirt, start up pack and a top up credit of GH C 3 and consolation prizes of a start up pack and credit of GH C 2 for the fourth to 10th winners.

He said the organization had installed a cell site at Chiraa and customers in the town and its environs would by next week be able to access other services like smart phone that would work using the one touch signal.
