Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) has donated GH˘1000 cash as well as assorted products and souvenirs of the company worth GH˘1000 towards the celebration of the Bakatue festival of the chiefs and people of Edina.

The presentation, which took place at the forecourt of the traditional council was received by Nana Eduakwa V, Chief of Atonkwa, on behalf of the Paramount Chief of the Edina Traditional Area, Nana Conduah VI.

Victor Bannerman-Chedid, Senior Manager, Customer Management, MTN Ghana, who did the presentation on behalf of MTN, noted that the company was pleased to be associated with the celebration of Bakatue which draws massive attention both in Ghana and abroad and continues to exhibit the rich traditions and uniqueness of the festival and people of Edina.

Mr. Bannerman-Chedid said MTN’s association with the Bakatue festival is borne out of the company’s commitment to the people of Ghana.

“For us at MTN, the Bakatue festival, a recognized cultural event, is an avenue to demonstrate the company’s commitment to the larger Ghanaian community in which we operate,” said Bannerman-Chedid.

He pointed out that MTN’s association with this exciting festival is due to the “Can do spirit” displayed by contesting groups during the regatta.

Nana Eduakwa expressed the council’s appreciation for the support and urged MTN to be committed to delivering reliable telecommunication service whilst enriching the communities in which they operate.

MTN is also sponsoring a musical concert, a float and a regatta competition as part of the celebration.
